Four restaurants with the best views of Quito

The dining options in Quito are very ample, both for traditional Ecuador food and international cuisine. Here, we bring you our top selection of the restaurants with the best views of the city—and yes, their food is great, too!

Pim’s Restaurant Panecillo

Pim's Restaurant Panecillo

This restaurant is located atop Panecillo Hill where you find the iconic statue of the Virgin of Quito that overlooks and protects the city. A selfie with the statue is a must before you enter the establishment. From the balcony, you can see the whole extension of colonial Quito and beyond: the Basilica Church stands out from the rest. Their menu includes all the Ecuadorian delicacies, particularly from the Andes, such as the famous llapingachos (potato pancakes) and fritada (fried pork). It is a favorite place among locals for its service and quality food. NOTE: There is another branch in Itchimbía with equally stunning views!

Highlight: The Virgin of Quito will welcome you!

Tip: Traffic can be heavy in this area, so plan ahead.

Opens: Mon-Sat 12h00-23h00 / Sun 12h00-18h00

Address: General Melchor Aymerich, Cima del Panecillo

Phone: 02-317 0878

El Santo que da Marido Rooftop Bar

Mama Cuchara Rooftop Bar

This fabulous rooftop bar is located inside the luxury Hotel Mama Cuchara in the traditional neighborhood of Loma Grande in old town Quito. The building itself is beautiful, a restored Republican house that displays unique Ecuadorian artwork. The bar serves delicious finger food and other snacks made with local ingredients, plus classic and signature cocktails. Fun fact: the name of the place refers to San Antonio de Padua, a saint to whom single women would pray in order to find a husband. It is said that the saint brings soulmates together. Maybe you’ll find yours!

Highlight: There is a viewing platform with info charts explaining the main attractions of the city.

Tip: Enjoy the sunset from here!

Opens: Mon-Sun 10h00-22h00

Address: Vicente Rocafuerte E3-250 y Luis Chávez

Café Mosaico

Café Mosaico Restaurant

Located in Itchimbía neighborhood, this restaurant and bar claims to offer the very best view of Quito. Indeed, it is one of our favorite places for a panoramic view of the old town while you enjoy a canelazo, the Quiteño cocktail by tradition. You can find Ecuadorian specialties as well as Greek, vegetarian and vegan options. Its casual and cozy atmosphere will make you feel most welcomed.

Highlight: It opens every day of the year, no exceptions!

Tip: Ask for a table by the balcony and bring a light sweater.

Opens: Mon-Wed 16h00-23h00 / Thu-Sat 13h00-23h00 / Sun 13h00-22h30

Address: Manuel Samaniego N895 y Antepara

El Ventanal Restaurant

El Ventanal Restaurant

El Ventanal is located in San Juan neighborhood, on the western side of the old town. It features creative gourmet food, mostly international dishes with an Ecuadorian touch, in a refined and relaxed atmosphere. Every Wednesday and Friday they offer cocktail specials, the perfect introduction to a delightful dinner.

Highlight: Their chocolate desserts are wonderful.

Tip: An ideal choice for anniversaries or other special occasions.
